The Site Has Moved! (Check it out)

Hello all! It's been quite a while since we've last checked in... but I hope the changes to the new site are worth it.

We posted the lyrics to every song we have on our CD on the CD info page, and we also posted an interview with Jeff Geerling, the CD's producer, on how he recorded and made the CD. We also moved everything to a new (and hopefully faster/better) web server!

Other news: Our CDs will soon be sold on the St. Louis OYM website, and at the Steubenville Mid-America conferences this summer!

Leaving for Memphis, TN!

Later today, the Priestie Boyz will be setting off for Memphis, TN for a youth conference. Please pray that we may help inspire the youth attending the conference to become more attuned to their faith through our music and witness!

Because of seminary obligations, some of the members will not be going; however, D. Mike, Christian, and Derrick will proudly perform the songs while the rest of the band say a few prayers for them.

Priestie Boyz At It Again!

The Priestie Boyz will be playing live in concert twice before summer! We've started practicing (as evidenced by the picture of Christian playing his bass tonight, below), and we're hoping for an awesome time as we will be playing at a youth conference in Memphis, TN, and at the Seminary's annual variety show for the third year in a row.

We will be posting any more news updates on this blog, but for the time being, please go and buy the CD - we hope you'll enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it! If you have any questions, ask them here!

CD Release - Less than Two Weeks Away!

According to Disc Makers, the company producing our CDs, all of the preliminary stages of CD manufacturing are complete, and they are now working on stamping and printing all the CDs of Lost in Ecstasy. Once the CDs arrive, we'll start selling them online an at different St. Louis area venues.

Also, we've updated the website a little: the song previews are from the final mastered CD now (they were originally from old mixes of the songs), and we posted the final cover art for the album. Head over to the music page to see and hear the improvements!

Although we hope you'll buy a CD (to get the full experience, including the album art we labored for hours over...), the songs should be on iTunes and other download services within a few weeks. Stay tuned for more info!

Home Stretch - FINALLY!

It's been long and hard, but at this time tomorrow, the final mastered copy of the Priestie Boyz' album, Lost in Ecstasy, will be shipped to the CD duplication plant, and within about two weeks, the CD will be available for sale on our website (and soon thereafter on iTunes!).

Please pray for all students returning to school in these weeks, especially for all those entering college and the first years of their 'freedom;' that they may be wise and judicious in all their actions, and not forget to strive for perfection in Jesus Christ!

Album Info, Song Previews Posted

If you've seen our home page, you may have noticed that song previews for the whole album have been posted on our Music page, and a date for the release has been added.

Jeff has finished all the editing and mixing for the CD, and the CD is now going through the mastering process. In a few weeks (probably by mid-August), we'll have CDs able to be sold, and the music will also be on iTunes. We'll post more information about how to get the CD closer to the release date. Check back often!

Finishing Touches

We're almost there! The songs are finished being mixed, and they will be 'mastered' over the next two weeks. Then, it's off to Disc Makers, where the mastered CD will be duplicated (many times!).

Jeff will be at Steubenville Mid-America during the next two weekends, and, while there, he'll be working on making an awesome-looking album cover and case design. There will also be more song previews posted as soon as he gets a few minutes of free time - keep checking back here!

Coming Ever Closer...

This week will be the last week of recording for the priestie boyz. Almost everything's been recorded, and most of the work that's left involves me sitting at my computer with headphones on for a few hours (per song) and 'mixing' them until they sound great.

After that's done, we will be sending the songs to be 'mastered,' and finally they will be put on a CD and duplicated. I will be sure to post more information as we get closer to having the CDs in our hands (we might even have the album available on iTunes!). Keep checking the blog for details!

New Song Previews on Music Page

I've just finished posting a few new song previews on the Music page. As I've said before, we're very close to finishing the recording, and here are some of the fruits of our labor. I've made better quality MP3s this time (128 kbps, as opposed to 96 kbps before) so you can hear the songs with a bit more clarity.

I'm really looking forward to finishing this album, and, while I don't want to promise the sky, I think we will have copies for distribution within one month!

Album Status

We're in the home stretch! There are only a few more tracks to record, and we'll be finished. The rest of the process should only take a few more weeks, and then we'll be able to distribute the songs. Please pray that the rest of the process goes well and that we can finish up our academic year well.

Since today is Divine Mercy Sunday, we pray, "Jesus, I trust in You!"

More Work on the Album

Sorry it's been so long since the last update! We've had quite a bit going on around the Seminary...

Today Dan Kenney recorded some electric guitar solos, and tomorrow afternoon D.Mike will be finishing up his electric guitar work, and recording more vocal tracks. We're very close to finishing the recording, and we only have one more song to go! Optimistically, the CD will be out before summer... keep praying that this will happen, and perhaps it will!

New Music Previews Posted!

Even though recording won't be finished until after the Variety show (next weekend), I decided to post previews of the songs 'Cor,' 'Violent Attacks,' and 'In Your Glory' on the music page.

These are still not final versions of the songs, but they're getting closer! Please pray that we may be able to get through the rest of the songs quickly and sooner rather than later. We hope to have the CD out soon!

Recording Wrapping Up, Next Live Performance Scheduled

Yesterday the priestie boyz finished recording all the electric guitar parts for every song. We have one song's bass track left, plus the vocals for most of the songs. The songs are sounding great, and we're working as hard as we can to get them onto an album and ready to go! If you haven't already, check out the sample clip (from a rough cut of the song 'Violent Attacks') posted on our music page.

We are also going to be performing at Kenrick-Glennon Seminary during their annual variety show, Couch Potatoes: Twice Baked. Check out our music page for more information; we hope to see you there!

Pictures of Recording; Progress Report

We're about halfway finished with recording for our first album, Lost in Ecstasy. I posted a few pictures from our recording session at the Seminary a few days ago. We'll be participating in our 2nd semester preparatory retreats during this next week, and then we'll be back in classes.

We are hoping to finish this CD sometime earlier, rather than later, this year; keep checking back here for more updates!

Hello again!

I posted a short (30 second) instrumental clip from one of our upcoming songs, Violent Attacks on our Music page. Note that this clip is not finalized in any way, and is only being released as a small sample of what is to come.

Because of exams and papers that are due, I haven't had time to do much else, so bear with us as we head into our winter break here at the Seminary. Recording will resume next weekend!

Recording in Earnest; Things are Looking Bright

We recorded the song 'Violent Attacks' yesterday, and it sounded awesome! It looks like we'll be setting up a few more recording sessions in the next few weeks, and we should be finished with the actual recording sometime during Christmas Break. After that, we will take the recorded audio and make it sound perfect and 'fit for a CD.'

I will post some video footage, but not as soon as I originally hoped; I have been overwhelmed by homework lately, and I won't have very much time in the next two weeks to work on that (sorry!).

Priestie Boyz 1st at Canapalooza!

A special thanks to all our fans who showed up to support us during Saint Louis University's Canapalooza! We placed first in the talent show, put on by the Student Activities Board at SLU, and had a heck of a time doing it!

We were planning on recording the audio from the mixer during the show, but I (Z) forgot my adaptor cables, so we just have video; don't fret, thoughÂI will be posting some of the clips (as well as some pictures) on the website as soon as I get some spare time. I'll keep you posted.

Recording is still 'a happening thing,' we just need to be patient and find more time to work on the songs!

New Bassist, Playing Live Again

Okay, quite a bit has happened lately. First, Brian decided to take some time off away from the Priestie Boyz, which is understandable. We are sad to see him go, but we're also excited to welcome First Year theologian Christian Malewski as our new bassist. He seems to be learning the songs pretty quickly and really enjoys playing with us.

As for our next live performance, some of you college folks might be interested that we're playing at Saint Louis University next Monday, November 14th in Salsarita's. There is a food drive going on at SLU the next few days, and that night there will be a sort of "talent show" where people with different interests can come show their stuff. Spectators can then donate cans in the name of a performer that they like, so it's a fun way to donate! Come hear us play and donate some food!

Recording has begun!

Okay, the long awaited grueling ritual of recording our first album has finally begun! We are in the first stages right now, but at least it's a start! So far Jeff and I (with the technical advice of D. Mike) have been recording rough tracks of me and my guitar as a guide for the other guys to go by. It doesn't sound all that great (I've gotta work on my "mouse voice") but Jeff's gonna do what he can to make it sound good. So far we have done rough tracks of seven songs (this is just random order, not the album order yet):

1) Cor
2) Little Things with Great Love
3) Lord Jesus Come
4) Mother, Forgive Me
5) Proelium Angelorum
6) Violent Attacks
7) Lost in Ecstasy

We're also working on Falling in Love, Simple Jewish Girl, Back to You, and another one which doesn't have a title yet. Our goal is twelve songs for an album, but this is obviously only eleven. We'll either leave it at that, or write another one really quick!

Keep us in your prayers as we continue to work on recording! Within a few weeks we should have some clips on the website, but obviously nothing final for a while. We'll keep you updated. Peace.

Fall Break; then Recording... also, T-Shirts for Sale

Now that mid-term exam week is over, the priestie boyz are breathing a sigh of relief and gearing up for recording (literally). We have set up a new sound system for practicing, allowing Anthony to belt out his lyrics loud enough for the other band members to hear, and we now have all the parts in place to start recording the different parts of the songs.

This process (recording) will probably take about a month (maybe a little more), and after that it will take some more time to do the 'mastering' (getting the individual songs ready for duplication on a CD, and possibly via other media...). Please pray that all goes well and we don't have some crazy problems (like all the recorded sound files being deleted).

We will post some samples as soon as we get them ready—I promise!

Now, about those T-Shirts.

We have 7 T-shirts ready to be sold to whomever would like them, in sizes of Medium, Large and X-Large. The shirts are $12 each (plus $3 shipping), and I've attached a picture below:

Power Failure

The power went out at the seminary tonight. I just thought I'd let y'all know that. What a storm, eh?

On an actually somewhat important note, the live recording from the Crossroads Music Festival will be sent to us soon. There's some technical difficulties, but as soon as we receive it maybe we can post some of the songs up so you can actually hear what we sound like.

Also, as soon as we scrape up enough money to make another t-shirt order, we will open an online store. We have some other ideas, too, like hoodies, bumper stickers, etc. Once again, if you submit an idea for merchandise and we use it, you get one free! (Sorry, we will not make cars!) So tell all your friends. No, really, we actually are a band, and we will have an album out soon. I promise.

Crossroads!

Okay, so we just got back from the Crossroads Music Festival, and we had a blast! It was a lot of fun, and for those of us who hadn't been before it was a good experience to meet some other people on the local and national Catholic music scene. I enjoyed seeing the other bands and artists play, and I think we put on a good show, too. We all felt pretty confident, and came away satisfied, yet with ideas on where to improve. Now it's time to just relax for a while, catch up on homework, and forget about playing for a week or two. Then we can start working on our album!

We have some pictures from the event on the pictures page, and we'll be posting a song from the show for you to download as soon as we can get the recording of it. We're really looking forward to working on our Lost In Ecstasy CD over the next few months.

For those of you who were there, thanks for cheering for us and the other bands! If you weren't able to buy a shirt or would like more merchandise, keep checking back on the website; we'll set up a store here soon enough. Tonight I posted a few pictures from the most recent band practice (unfortunately, Brian wasn't present... but I'll make sure there's a picture of him soon enough!), and some information about the Crossroads Music Festival. This year's Crossroads will be held from Friday-Sunday, September 23-25 at the Eagle Hurst Ranch in Steelville, MO. Tickets are still available ($35 each), and you can register online. We'll be there with a few special prizes, and you can listen to some of the songs which will be on our upcoming "Lost in Ecstacy" album.

Hello everyone,

'Z' here again: Tonight I attended another priestie boyz band practice, and not only did they sound great, but I also had some time to spruce up the website and finish designing the first CD cover.

You can see the CD cover and the titles of a few of the songs that will be on the CD on the 'music' page. Also, check out the new priestie boyz logo on the home page; it is much more refined than the old one (but we're still open to suggestions).

Recording will commence as soon as we can wrap up a few more songs and get all the equipment we need together. In the mean time, Crossroads is coming up, and we're anticipating a great time there!

Hello faithful fans!!!

We just had our first official practice as a four (or five, if you count Jeff) -member band. Things seem to be going good. We're excited to have Mike now, and I'm feeling pretty confident about progress. We're going to start crackin' on more practices per week. So far we've worked on two songs: "Proelium Angelorum" and "Violent Attacks," which are both focused on spiritual warfare. Maybe next we can start working on slower songs too, like "Lord Jesus, Come" or "Cor."

Oh, by the way: We've been invited to Crossroads Music Festival!!! We're all pretty excited about it, but we need to confirm or reject the offer soon. That's partly why we're practicing a lot, to see if we can be ready to perform in a month. Maybe we'll see you there! Peace.

New Guitarist!!!

Okay, so here's an update. We now officially have a lead guitarist. For the past few months I have been both lead singer and lead guitarist, and considering (1) I am not lead guitarist material and (2) even if I were, having both responsibilities is still a lot to handle, the Priestie Boyz collectively agreed to invite fellow St. Louis seminarian D. Mike Bauer as lead guitarist. We're all pretty excited about the band's newest addition. Now all we need to do is get crackin' on those songs! We'll try to have a bio on Mike as soon as things get going again. Isn't it amazing how every summer you plan on doing so much, but end up so busy that even less gets done (or so it seems)? Okay, well have a great day all you faithful fans! Enjoy your summer while it still lasts! Peace in Christ.

Summer's Wrapping Up

Hey guys, this is my first official blog. As all of our faithful fans know, I am the guitarist/lead vocalist. I will try to regularly post updates on what the band is doing, when we're (finally) putting out our first cd, etc. As for now:

We are currently putting together a studio inside the seminary. We're working on soundproofing right now, because the room is just an old jamming session room with concrete walls. It probably used to be just storage for maintenance equipment.

All our songs are written; we just need more practice to get our parts together. In fact, we have more songs than can fit on one album, so it's time to pick the ones we play the best and like the best. This is better, because now the songs we put on the album we can be sure of, and put aside the ones we're unsure about.
